Nestled in the oak-studded hills of North West Atascadero a charming site awaits you...an unforgettable destination surprise. A charming old country road leads to a sole-campsite exclusively for you and friends/family. The bathroom is straight out of the Hobbit, equipped with hot/cold water, stall shower, fluffy white towels and camping supplies. The propane firepit is perfect for evening gatherings with your companions and marshmallow roasts (read: S'mores). A hand-carved trail surrounds the area: complete with a suspension bridge, chicken coup, rocky bridge and fish pond. Additionally, we provide a sustainable eco-friendly environment for our guests: including trash, recycling and composting receptacles. Also wildlife galore: plenty of turkeys, deer, racoons and quail. The nights are dark but we provide flashlights...then turn the flashlights off for a dazzling evening of stargazing. Atascadero is the perfect base for discovering the Central Coast: wineries/tasting rooms, olive oil tasting, abundant trails for walking/hiking; golfing as well as exploring the beaches: Morro Bay, Avila Beach, Montana de Oro, and northward to Cambria, Cayucos, San Simeon and Big Sur. All of these attractions within a 30-mnute drive. Look forward to seeing you...Located on the south side of Atascadero, Wendee's Whimsical Camp Site is a destination getaway that puts you with nature, yet mere minutes away from downtown Atascadero, and a few minutes more from the heart of some of the best wineries the world has to offer. There is only one campsite, which is yours, giving you full privacy. The campsite also provides exceptional stargazing.

Wendee's Whimsical Camp Site

Wendee' Whimsical site is perfectly named. The views are spectacular, the thoughtful touches were everywhere and the towels were so soft it was like drying off with a kitten! 🤣 It could only be magic. Plan for stargazing and relaxation. We hope to return and stay a little longer next time. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful space with us!

Great stay

Enjoyed our stay here. Clean restroom and made it convenient for a 1 nighter. Cute set up. Would stay again for sure. Ran out of gas for generator for lights in bathroom but made it work with the flashlights they provided. Good back up.

Amazing experience

We stayed at Wendee's Whimsical Campsite for two nights and LOVED it! The pictures really do not do it justice. The time & care that they have put into this property is really quite amazing. It's more glamping, if you want to get technical. Bathroom with hot shower, additional sink outside for dishes, picnic table with umbrella, propane fire ring with seating, a comfy hammock... Or you can take a little stroll to get above the trees to take in some of the view and if you forgot your water bottle on this little stroll, no problem - there are two water fountains along the way. Maybe you want to stop and enjoy the view from the bar area? It's all quite wonderful and we'd definitely come back. People should know that there are chickens and a rooster that are chatty. And yes, he cock-a-doodle-doos every morning and throughout the day. We loved it and it didn't bother us a bit.

It was indeed whimsical

Amazing stay at Wendees spot! It was so relaxing and having a hot shower was perfect. We slept great and loved the snore closet. Such a warm and welcoming experience
